Connecticut Technology Council Recognizes Open Solutions Inc.

Presented Annual Innovation Excellence Award

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (December 6, 2007) – The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) is presenting its annual Innovation Excellence Award to Open Solutions Inc. in 2007. The Glastonbury-based software company has achieved an impressive record of growth and job creation over the last several years to become one of the largest software companies in the state with over 300 employees here in Connecticut and 2100 overall. Revenue was nearly half a billion dollars in the year ending in 2006.

The Innovation Excellence Award is now in its fourth year and is given to the CTC member which has displayed technology leadership in its industry vertical, grabbed increasing market share, and been recognized for innovation by its peer or trade groups and industry analysts. Previous year winners have been ATMI, Inc of Danbury, Pitney Bowes of Stamford and Sonalysts, Inc of Waterford.

Open Solutions has been a leader in providing banks, credit unions and other financial services providers with the types of innovative software to better serve and relate to their customers as well as provide new opportunities to increase business. In part, that is because Open Solutions was founded by professionals with in-depth experience in financial services, enterprise data management, system design and relationship-based technologies.

More specifically, Open Solutions Inc. focuses on the financial services marketplace by providing state-of-the-art industry specific products and services. Its technology enables clients across the globe to strengthen relationships, improve productivity, drive new revenue, and reduce training and administrative costs. Its clients have grown to include some of the largest banks, credit unions, insurance providers, retailers and wealth management companies in the world.  Over 5,800 clients use one or more of its products.

Open Solutions is headed by Louis Hernandez, Jr., Chairman & CEO, who has been at Open Solutions since 1999. He has presided over its amazing growth, its IPO in 2003 and its return to a privately held company in 2007 with its sale to The Carlyle Group and Providence Equity Partners, two leading private equity firms.

Also honored at the 2007 CTC Annual Meeting was Tony Allen as its 2007 Volunteer of the Year. Allen is the Vice Chair of the Board and has served on the Board since 2000. Senator Gary Lebeau (D-East Hartford) was recognized for his consistent support for technology related legislative initiatives. He received the 2007 Public Policy Leader of the Year award.
