2010 Innovation Pipeline Awards

Over 400 entrepreneurs, investors and service providers gathered on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at The Omni Hotel in New Haven for the Connecticut Technology Council’s Fourth Annual Innovation Pipeline Awards. The event celebrates the most promising early stage and emerging technology companies in Connecticut that are considered to have the best potential to be a successful enterprise.

This was part of a larger event being held that day called the Cantor Colburn/CCAT Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit, which included a northeast angel investor summit sponsored by The Angel Investor Forum (www.angelinvestorforum.com/). Nearly 100 angel investors from Connecticut Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania attended. A key component of the evening’s program put the spotlight on 115 “Companies to Watch” in a poster fair exhibit of their products and services to attendees.

During the awards ceremony, the Connecticut Technology Council honored U.S. Senator Christopher J. Dodd (D) with an Award of Appreciation. Senator Dodd has been a friend and supporter of efforts to help grow the Connecticut technology economy and has consistently supported the angel community. He addressed the gathering via video from Washington, congratulating the winners and applauding the efforts of all the participating entrepreneurs.

Eligibility Criteria

For consideration in the Connecticut Technology Council 2009 Innovation Awards, a company
must have met the following criteria:

1. Must be headquartered in Connecticut. Subsidiaries or company divisions are not eligible.
2. Must have proprietary technology or propriety intellectual property, except those in
    the IT Services category. A company is also eligible if it devotes a significant portion of its
    revenue to the research and development of technology.
3. Revenue must not exceed $10M. The Innovation Awards are aimed at younger,
    emerging technology companies.
