These awards are now in their third year and recognize emerging technology companies who are judged to have an outstanding technology product or service which is either in beta or is already being sold in the marketplace. A panel of judges will review applications to make the selections. For 2009 there are eight awards categories that companies may apply for. They are described below.

CTC recognizes that the Connecticut technology industry is populated with a multitude of emerging technology companies who deserve recognition beyond those who will be declared winners of the 2009 Innovation Pipeline Awards. Hence it is classifying all companies who apply and meet basic criteria as a “Company to Watch.”  This designation has been established to indicate that your company has an innovative technology product or service with the potential to capture market share. It affirms that your technology company, its offerings and its management team are on the road to product, market, and financial success. Thus, companies applying to be considered for a 2009 Innovation Pipeline Award will also be considered for “Company to Watch” designation.

Out of State companies, while not eligible for the Innovation Pipeline Awards (Connecticut based companies only are eligible), may apply to be considered for “Company to Watch” status. CTC is interested in attracting technology companies from New England and the tri-state region to participate in this gathering of outstanding emerging technology companies in New Haven on September 17.

“Companies to Watch” will be asked to exhibit in a poster fair at the 2009 Cantor Colburn LLP Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit the evening of September 17 (4:30 to 7:30) at the Omni Hotel in New Haven. The poster fair, which will serve as a mini-trade show for the technology companies selected, is a simple, uncomplicated way to introduce companies to investors and attendees at the event.

In attendance the evening of September 17th will be angel investors from Boston, New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia, as earlier in the day, angels of the American Capital Association (ACA) will be meeting at a regional gathering of the ACA in New Haven. This complementary event provides exhibiting “Companies to Watch” a unique opportunity to meet with investors.

The deadline for applications is July 10, 2009.
