Golden Consulting Group, LLC

Description of Products & Services

Golden Consulting Group helps companies gain insight from their data and make smarter decisions.  Our consultants offer extensive business intelligence, database and reporting expertise.  Companies who need data-driven answers to their business questions should talk to us.  We can help them take their existing reporting system to the next level.

In addition, Golden’s planning and budgeting solutions help companies produce flexible plans that align with strategic goals.  We also offer public and customized private training courses, both at client sites and in our Bloomfield facility.  We are particularly excited about our flexible resource partnerships, wherein we design and deliver custom training courses for partner applications that require data extraction and report writing.

Although we do work with the IT staffs of several larger corporations, we work primarily with small and medium-sized companies.  Our clients span a wide variety of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, construction, government, and finance.

Golden is a Business Objects and Crystal Reports Gold Partner, Education Partner, Migration Specialist, and certified software VAR.  As a Microsoft Data Management Partner, we support SQL Server and Reporting Services.  In addition, Golden is an IBM Business Partner and Education Center.

Competitors

Market awareness remains our top “competitor.”  Many companies are struggling to manage their data and report more effectively.  They are searching for the right solution—but don’t know where to look.  Golden needs to gain more recognition for our solutions and position them as the most relevant tools for using data to make better decisions.

In some ways, we compete with ourselves by working in both the Business Objects and Microsoft reporting environments.  While Business Objects is the #1 business intelligence tool in the world, many small to mid-sized enterprises are interested in building on their installed SQL Server platform where Reporting Services exists.  We strive to analyze each situation to offer the best solution from these competing technologies.

Business Opportunities

The “business intelligence” trend that began among larger corporations has now spread to smaller companies as they collect more and more data.  We can help those companies—many of whom are starting from scratch—as they develop tools for collecting, reporting upon, and visualizing their data.  Business Objects’ newest software bundle (Edge Series) is designed and priced specifically for mid-size organizations.  So, while we do work with larger corporations as they make consolidated data accessible to their decision makers, our biggest opportunities are these mid-size companies that want to take their reporting to the next level.

Furthermore, Business Objects has recently become part of the SAP Group, so we can now offer more comprehensive business intelligence and business process solutions to a wider audience.  New product packages and an expanded partner network will open new opportunities for providing integrated business intelligence solutions—independent of databases and applications—with the additional advantage of application alignment for business analytics.

Greatest Business Challenge

Our biggest business challenge is hiring and developing a staff that can support the technologies and services we want to provide.  We look for employees who possess training ability in addition to technical expertise.  Finding the right mix of skills and potential can be challenging, but it is very important.
