CTC Picks High School Sophomore
03/17/12 - CTC has awarded a modest monetary award to Bridget Oei in the 6th Annual Connecticut Science Fair, held March 13th - 17th. Bridget is a high school sophomore at East Catholic High School in Manchester.  Her science project was entitled:  Approach to Harvesting Vibrations from Human Respiration to Power Biological Implant Devices.


Angel Investing Jumps with State Tax Credit

01/12/12 - Hartford Courant -
The Connecticut legislature's 2010 jobs package bill allowed angel investors who put $100,000 into small Connecticut tech/science startups to deduct a quarter of that investment from state income taxes. "There is an explosion in entrepreneurship and people want to get in on it," said Matthew Nemerson, Connecticut Technology Council CEO, which has been lobbying for angel investor tax credits for over five years. Pfizer workforce layoffs announced

that 25 percent of its Groton and New London
workforce will be laid off as some operations
are transferred to Cambridge, MA in an effort
to cut R&D costs. CTC and UHY LLP Release 2009 Top 40 Fastest Growing Companies in Connecticut
9/14/09 - The Connecticut Technology Council and UHY LLP are releasing their 2009 list of the state's 40 fastest growing technology companies. The UHY LLP Tech Top 40 list of winning companies is compiled on the basis of revenue staegrowth over the last four years. Companies considered for this recognition have at least $3M in revenue, although some of the public companies listed have exceeded $1Billion in revenue. CTC's Annual Meeting took place 12/4 at the Covidien North Haven Campus.  Thank you goes to Open Solutions for sponsoring the event.  We had over 150 CTC Members and guests in attendance. Rick Harris, CTC's secretary presented board business and awards were presented.

Congratulations to our award winners:

CTC has presented its 2008 Innovation Excellence Award to member company FuelCell Energy, Inc. a  Danbury-based fuel cell company. Receiving the Council’s 2008 Public Policy Leader of the Yearaward was Joan McDonald, the Commissioner of the state Department of Community and Economic Development, for providing leadership in support of the technology based set of economic development polices the Council believes are best for the state. Beth Alquist Partner, Day Pitney LLP received the 2008 Volunteer of the Year for her volunteer work on the Woman of Innovation Planning Committee which she has led since 2006.
