Company

Prometheus Research delivers integrated research registries powered by our adaptable web-based platform, the Research Exchange Database, or RexDB. Our systems are unique in that they are designed for flexibility, allowing analysts to configure most systems without the need for traditional programming skill sets. Research registries are sought after in a variety of domains, including academic research institutions, healthcare organizations and medical associations, insurance and financially minded companies, and within non-profits and large foundations.

Clients

Our clientele range from end users who seek a robust data warehousing solution under conditions of high data variety and volatility, to IT groups charged with supporting in-house data collection, integration, and utilization tasks. In fact, Prometheus’ value added resellers are traditionally IT groups and data management cores who wish to leverage best-of-breed technologies to deliver customized registries within their organization.

Competition

Our competitors range from general and specialized tools such as spreadsheets and EDC systems, to in-house staff such as “cheap” grad students and institutional data management cores.

What sets us apart is our approach – we focus on delivering analyst-configurable systems. This means that RexDB systems can be regularly updated to meet the changing needs of ongoing research projects, allowing modifications to be performed by semi-technical to non-technical users.

It now provides a one stop shop to deliver programs that used to take numerous vendors to achieve.

Market Opportunities

Registries offer tremendous value to a wide variety of markets. At its core, a registry enables users to answer questions of their data that they haven’t thought of yet. By organizing data from disparate systems into a flexible, analyst-configurable platform, we allow for resident data management staff to apply their domain-specific skill sets to ongoing application development. Our registry platform can help answer questions like “Show me the most frequently used billing codes for physicians performing procedure X on patients of demographic Y,” “How many claims for X were submitted in region Y and how many were for insurance company Z,” or “Show me all research participants with genetic legion X, an IQ of Y, and a history of consent to blood draws.” Answers to queries such as these are available in minutes, rather than days or weeks. Business opportunities for this type of “research” exist in healthcare, insurance, finance, academic research, and funding organizations.

Near Term Business Challenges

Our company faces many unique challenges, but they’re “good” challenges to have. We’re expanding our client base quickly, and as a consequence, we struggle to manage a pipeline of highly qualified candidates that can be tapped to work on a new domain within a short time period.
