WOI | 2015 Recap

WOI 2015

The 11th annual Women of Innovation awards gala set the bar high for future celebrations. More than 530 attendees consisting of women innovators, friends, colleagues, sponsors, parents, scientists, educators, reporters and more began filling the Aqua Turfs Kay Pier as early at 4:00pm on Wednesday April 1. As always, the atmosphere was full of excitement as Women of Innovation alumni and new honorees gathered to discuss their STEM related work, studies, challenges and dreams in both their classroom, field, and communities.

Once the 2015 Women honorees were announced and dinner was served, keynote speaker Cecilia K. McKenney, Executive Vice President of Frontier Secure and Administration for Frontier Communications, took the stage. McKenney delivered a witty and entertaining talk on her No pain, no gain, attitude and how it helped her to achieve higher ground in her HR career. She encouraged all women to never take no for an answer, to believe in themselves and to take risks, especially those that would pay off.

We would like to extend a huge round of applause to this year’s outstanding women in STEM, and more specially to announce this year’s category winners! You can read the full press release here.
