EAST HARTFORD—The 15th annual Women of Innovation (WOI) Awards dinner will take place on March 27, 2019, and the deadline to nominate women for the awards has been extended to Friday, January 25, 2019.
The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC), a nonprofit now in its 25th year of supporting the technology industry in the state, is accepting nominations for Connecticut women in the following categories who exhibit innovation and leadership in STEM fields:
· Youth (high school student)
· Collegian
· Community
· Research
· Secondary Academic
· Postsecondary Academic
· Entrepreneurial
· Small Business
· Medium Business
· Large Business

In addition to the awards for individual women, CTC has introduced two new awards to the event this year for Inspiring STEM Equitability. These awards will be given to an individual (of any gender) and an organization for promoting equality and diversity in STEM. Nominations are being accepted for these awards through January 25 as well.
“Nominations have been coming in from across the state at a higher rate than previous years,” says event organizer and CTC Manager of Talent and Workforce Programs, Taylor Van Antwerp. “We want to keep the momentum going and make sure the committee considers as many women as possible from all areas of state.” Nominations were initially scheduled to close on January 18 before the extension to January 25 was announced.
A committee of highly qualified and accomplished individuals (including many past WOI honorees) will select 50 finalists from the pool of nominees. The winners in each category will be announced at the awards dinner on March 27.
“The Women of Innovation Awards dinner has a palpable magic to it,” says Severine Zygmont, CTC Board Chair and WOI winner in 2014. “The event has a red-carpet, glamorous atmosphere, and it’s a unique opportunity to meet and connect with brilliant women from so many different specializations.”
