CTC’s Growth Cell Network XCellR8 Innovation Cell July 2011 Meeting
Ms. Mallory Kievman presented to the XCellR8 Innovation Cell. Mallory is a 13 year old from Manchester, CT, and will be an 8th grader at Talcott Mountain Academy in Avon. Mallory is the creator of Hiccupops– lollipops that stop hiccups in seconds by combining a proprietary blend of all-natural ingredients into a specific lollipop form.
Mallory developed the idea for her product last summer while researching ways to cure her own hiccups. Hiccupops are patent pending and recently won 3 awards at the 2011 CT Invention Convention. Mallory and her lollipops have been showcased at the State Capitol, and also on NBC News. Mallory is now looking to commercialize her invention, and turned to the group for input on go-to-market strategies and thoughts on start up funding/ sources.
Following the XcellR8 session, Nerac hosted the UConn School of Engineering’s Innovate Educate event which included an informal, interactive panel discussion with Catherine Smith, Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and Mun Y. Choi, Ph.D, Dean, UConn School of Engineering. Kevin Bouley moderated and focused the discussion of CT’s tech based economic development efforts.
