Would love to see a CT inventor win this Lemelson-MIT prize.  Nomination form online at: http://web.mit.edu/invent/

$500,000 Lemelson-MIT Prize: Awarded to an outstanding mid-career inventor who has developed a patented product or process of significant value to society that has also been adopted for practical use or has a high probability of being adopted.

$100,000 Lemelson-MIT Award for Sustainability: Awarded to an exceptional inventor whose work enhances economic opportunities and community wellbeing in developing and/or developed countries, while protecting and restoring the natural environment.

Also – pretty cool – the boy scouts have created a badge for this: Cambridge, Massachusetts (June 17, 2010) –The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), in partnership with the Lemelson-MIT Program, today announced the introduction of the Inventing merit badge, designed to encourage Scouts to be inventive and solve real-world problems. The new merit badge will provide Boy Scouts with an understanding of the impact and importance of inventive thinking and doing.
