Startup Weekend New Haven to Give Area Entrepreneurs A Lift in November 2011

Startup Weekend, "an intense 54 hour event, hosted by Independent Software and The Grove, which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend," is coming to New Haven November 11-13, 2011.   The event will be held at the Grove, a New Haven coworking space.

"Startup Weekend packs into three days what normally takes entrepreneurs three months to do," said organizer Derek Koch, founder of New Haven software firm Independent Software. "Entrepreneurs with ideas find cofounders, develop their plan, build prototype, and present their idea to a judging panel – all in a single weekend."

With continuing questions about our economy's recovery, and persistently high levels of unemployment, Startup Weekend gives innovators a forum to roll up their sleeves and create new products, new jobs, and new wealth.

"The weekend brings together people with different skillsets – primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people – to build applications and develop a commercial case around them," John Seiffer, Angel Investor and Founder of BetterCEO said.

Organizers suggest that those interested in the event visit the New Haven Startup Weekend event site here, or contact them for more information.
